2017 PDD Highlights

Survey Winner!

Annie Jenkins of HMSA won a $100 gift certificate to Morton's Steakhouse just for participating in the attendee survey after the event.  Here's what Annie had to say about winning and the PDD: "What a pleasant surprise on the survey drawing win!  I’m a Senior System Analyst in a Project Manager role this year as a newbie to Project Management at HMSA. PDD was definitely a fun day and very beneficial to me. I almost didn’t attend due to my hectic schedule, glad I did."

Thank YOU Annie for participating in PDD and especially submitting the survey responses!  We truly value the feedback as it helps us improve.

Groundbreaking Innovations Generate a Buzz

Topi Conference App.  Topi is a mobile app that enabled conference attendees, speakers, sponsors, and chapter leaders to interact with each other,  Speakers and chapter leaders got instant feedback at sessions.  Questions and Comments were exchanged in an easy to use format.  Conference schedule, map, speaker bios, and session descriptions were all accessible through the app.  80% positive rating.  Lesson Learned:  Need more advance training.  Getting more users acquainted with the app will enable more people to discover the benefits.  We tried to go maximum GREEN, but we also heard attendees feedback, so we will provide a printed schedule in future PDD events.

Badge Scans replacing Rubber Stamp Paper Passport.  Another effort to go GREEN, the badge scans enabled Sponsors to receive visits at their booths as well as reward attendees for checking out what the sponsors had to offer.  Overall positive rating here as well.

Badge scanning isn't limited to just sponsors!  If you ran out of or missed bringing your business cards, you can use the QR code scan to collect and share your contact information.

Speaker Presentations Available for Download for a Limited Time!

Happenings

Two of our own PMIHNL's Board of Directors Attended The Professional Development EXPO held in Hilo on the Big Island to talk about Project Management.

UHHilo Expo

Attending from PMIHNL are Christian Ocasio Gonzalez, PMP, Professional Development Director (pictured 4th from the left on the EXPO poster above) and Joslyn Sato, D.M., PMP, Academic Outreach Director (pictured first on the EXPO poster above).

The UH Hilo CCECS Professional Development Expo is an interactive event to provide local businesses an oppotunity to learn more about the Fall 2017 programs. Joslyn explains "The event brought together the Hawai'i Island Chamber of Commerce members.  Guest speaker Eric Yeaman, President & COO of First Hawaiian Bank shared with the attendees his journey of leadership, as well as an outlook for the Hawai'i economy.  Attendees were also provided the opportunity to visit UH at Hilo's College of Continuing Education and Community Service (CCECS) Professional Development Expo.  Instructors from the CCECS courses provided attendees information about their courses to show the benefit of growing in those areas."

Christian reported "We received plenty of visitors inquiring as to what PMI was, what is project management, and how it can be beneficial. We provided explanations regarding PMI and our relationship with UH Hilo and supporting the growth and understanding of project management. For the lunch break, keynote speaker was Eric Yeaman from FHB discussing his background and the important principles of leadership."  After the lunch presentation the Directors returned to the booth to field questions about PMI and project management from students and visitors.

Both Christian and Joslyn are scheduled return to Hilo to conduct classes in October and November.  Congratulations Christian and Joslyn on an excellent representation of PM to the community and Next Generation Leaders!
